Pownall Hall
Pownall Hall School is not only concerned with academic achievements. Children are enouraged to develop their social and personal skills in preparation of an individual for life. This encouragement manifests itself in outdoor activities and educational trips, with primary focus on interaction, bonding and communication. For those who have specific learning difficulty, additional support is given through our Learning Support Department. The school has its own Pre School and After School Care Services in a separate building with its own staff. In addition extra curricular activities and other courses are often arranged and are very popular. The school prepares and serves all meals onsite, ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet for all children.

Learning Progression

Children are encouraged to show engagement, application and concentration when working independently. They work on a History project on The Tudors which uses their language and literacy skills and helps them to be ready for the rigour of Senior School life. An introduction to Shakespearean text and a full study of Macbeth provides a new starting point for young minds before they have too many pre-conceived ideas.

Children are encouraged to undertake wide personal reading and to use reference texts and IT sources in order to research specific topics. They produce extended pieces of writing and take responsibility for organising and planning their own material with the guidance of the teacher.
